  • ARTICLE: Luminous Landscape gives "state of the DSLR" address... (D700)

    http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/700-thoughts.shtml

An honest opinion on the current state of affairs in the full-frame DSLR market today.

I found it fascinating to think what may have transpired in Nikon's corporate scene so as to bring about the D3, D300 and D700. It is as if we narrowly missed the complete demise of Nikon in general. And yet now Nikon is a powerful "contender". I will refrain from saying that they are "on top", because it really is just a matter of perspective and what you need in a camera, but yeah, they're definitely a worthy opponent. For the first time in about a decade.

I'll post my own analysis of the D700 and the implications of it's timely release soon. Basically I have faith that Canon will deliver a very competitive 5D mk2. It will probably be very comparable to the D700, but have more resolution, potentially better image quality, and should cost as much as $500 less. We'll see in a matter of 2-3 months!
